Central City, located approximately 38 miles west of Denver, is known as “The Richest Square Mile On Earth”. During the Pikes Peak Gold Rush in 1859, the town earned its nickname when it became the wealthiest square mile in the United Sates due to its abundance of gold and silver mines.

In the late 1800s, Central City was home to over 30,000 residents and produced millions of dollars worth of gold and silver each year. The city’s wealth attracted many prominent individuals, including President Ulysses S. Grant, who visited the area in 1873.

Today, Central City is a historic mining town that draws visitors from all over the world who come to experience its rich history and architecture. The city is home to several historic sites, including the Central City Opera House, which was built in 1878 and is the oldest continually operating theater in the state.

In addition to its rich history, Central City is also home to a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and fishing. The city is surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains, which offer breathtaking views and a wide range of recreational opportunities.
